Welcome to the website of the Romanian Orthodox Church of Edmonton, Saints Constantine and Elena!

The Romanian presence in Alberta is over 100 years old. It started with the first Romanian Pioneers who came from Boian, Bucovina, in 1898 and settled 100 km north-east of Edmonton, a place they called Boian. Just a few years after their arrival, in 1905, they consecrated their new church, Saint Mary of Boian.

Fifty years later, in 1948, their descendents established the Romanian Orthodox Church of Edmonton, Saints Constantine and Elena. The church was consecrated on May 21, 1972.

Our parish is under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the Americas, with the headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA, which is in canonical communion with the Patriarchate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Special Services during Advent

During the Christmas Fast, we’ll have Vespers, every Saturday at 5:00 PM.
Following the Vespers Service, Confession will be heard for those who want to prepare for Holy Communion.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

On November 12, 2016, a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be offered by our parish in honor of all volunteers who worked in different capacities during the past year. Supper will be served at 7:00 PM.
Please bring your family!

Christmas Lent Begins

On November 15, Christmas lent begins. Every weekend, after the 21st of November until Dec. 18,
as well as on designated days, fish is allowed.

Perogy Supper

On Friday November 4, 2016, the Ladies Auxiliary will organize a Perogy Supper at the Romanian Center, between 4:30 – 7:30 PM.

NEW YEAR’S PARTY

Would you like to celebrate the arrival of 2017 at the Romanian Center, in a traditional Romanian atmosphere? Then contact Viorel or Veronica Ciocan on Sundays, at the church, for tickets ($100/adults and $20/children 7-14), and additional details.
