Welcome to the website of the Romanian Orthodox Church of Edmonton, Saints Constantine and Elena!
The Romanian presence in Alberta is over 100 years old. It started with the first Romanian Pioneers who came from Boian, Bucovina, in 1898 and settled 100 km north-east of Edmonton, a place they called Boian. Just a few years after their arrival, in 1905, they consecrated their new church, Saint Mary of Boian.
Fifty years later, in 1948, their descendents established the Romanian Orthodox Church of Edmonton, Saints Constantine and Elena. The church was consecrated on May 21, 1972.
Our parish is under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the Americas, with the headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA, which is in canonical communion with the Patriarchate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Between August 1-15, the Orthodox Church observes the Dormition Fast. During the two week fast, the following services will be held in our church:
– Fridays, Aug. 2 and 9 at 7:00 PM: Akathist to the Holy Virgin.
– Saturdays, Aug. 3 and 10, at 5:00: Vespers.
– Wednesday, August 14: Vespers.
Those who want to have their confession heard, can do so after any of these services.
St. Herman Orthodox Church of Edmonton is organizing the St. Peter the Aleut Orthodox Summer Camp in August 2013. Click here for details on this event.
The Boian Annual Picnic will take place on July 20-21, 2013 at the Romanian Pioneer Museum of Boian. Directions: 4 miles east of Willingdon on Hwy 45, then 4 miles north on RR 143.
Come enjoy the food, drinks and cultural activities!
Guest list includes Stefan Hrusca, Catalin Arabu, Marinica Lutic (Iordanesti, Bucovina) and Balada Romanian Folk Dance Ensemble of Edmonton.

Due to the fact that Fr. George will be away between June 10 and July 18, there will be some changes regarding our Church services.
The church will be open every Sunday and Fr. Deacon Severian will serve the Akathist.
On June 23, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the V. Rev. Fr. Mircea Panciuk.

We thank Ladies Auxiliary and all volunteers for their dedicated support and help in organizing the latest two, very successful events at the Church: The 65th Parish Anniversary (1948-2013) on May 26 2013, and Garage and Bake Sale from May 31 to June 2 2013, with proceeds going towards the Kitchen Renovation project.
